The girl laid on the ground
Silence in her mouth and crickets in her ears.
All around her children shouted and played
And she wondered “what if I’m bound to stay here?”
After the first moment of shock she realised
She had nothing to lose or fear
And that, after all, it wasn’t such a bad idea.
For years she had tried to join the others playing
Always opening her lips for talking
Words looked like bubbles to her, escaping her mouth
But we know it already, bubbles don’t make a sound.
So there she stayed, mute after all
She embraced the grass and said nothing anymore.
